Delta Tau Chi Animal House Fraternity

Assignment: Create a complete scale color model of your choosing. I chose the Delta Frat House from National Lampoon’s Animal House. I felt that the level of distressing on the house would be a good exercise to practice my scenic painting skills. From behind-the-scenes images and stills of the movie I was able to hand-draft and then handcraft each element on the house.

 

In doing some research on the building itself, I discovered that the house was originally built in 1903 and was designed in the Queen Anne style, which helped inform some of my own design decisions. The final model was completed in ½” scale, and was built from foam-core, cold-press illustration board, bass wood, and balsa wood.
